Employer Sponsored Visa
If you have been offered a job in Australia, and your employer is happy to sponsor you for a visa, then you can apply for an employer sponsored visa. The legislation is very complex for employer-sponsored visas as the Department has been making frequent change. This constant fine-tuning is with the aim of benefitting the economy and so as to not disadvantage the Australian labour force.
Under this category, applications can be either Temporary or Permanent employer-sponsored visas.
The temporary visas are:
Subclass 482 visa - TSS Visa
This visa can be granted for up to 4 years. You may have a pathway for Permanent Residency through one of the permanent employer sponsored visas or skilled visas. Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years. Please note that you must be:
nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor
have the right skills to do the job
meet the relevant English language requirements.
Subclass 494 Visa - Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa
This visa can be granted for 5 years. You may have a pathway for Permanent Residency through one of the permanent employer sponsored visas or skilled visas.
The permanent visas are:
Subclass 186 Visa - Employer Nomination Scheme
This can be applied through any of these streams: Direct Entry, Temporary Residency Transition (TRT) or Agreement Stream
Subclass 187 Visa - Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme
This visa can only be applied by 457/482 visa holders through the Temporary Residency Transition (TRT) Stream
